Affordable Gardens & Landscapes is a family run, fully insured business based in Knottingley, and Castleford is well within our area. Castleford was built on the Roman settlement of Lagentium, close to where the Calder flows into the Aire, and later grew around its collieries and potteries. That long history shows in its gardens. There are walled yards behind older terraces, longer gardens on estates such as Ferry Fryston, and newer homes on former industrial sites. The town also has plenty of open space, from Queen's Park, where evidence of Anglo-Saxon roundhouses has been found, to Fryston Country Trails, created on the land of the old Fryston and Wheldale pits beside the river.
