Affordable Gardens & Landscapes is a family run, fully insured garden business based in Knottingley, and Wakefield is one of the main places we work across. From the streets around the cathedral to the suburbs south of the Calder, we help homes and commercial customers with gardens that have got away from them, gardens that need steady care, new boundaries and bigger changes.
Across the city
Wakefield is made up of what were once separate villages, Alverthorpe, Thornes, Sandal, Portobello, Belle Vue, Agbrigg, Lupset, Kettlethorpe and Flanshaw among them. We cover all of these, along with Eastmoor, Plumpton, Peacock and the streets around Thornes Park and Clarence Park. Each part of the city has its own mix of housing, from Victorian terraces in Agbrigg to the estates the council began after the First World War and the Georgian streets around St John's. South of the river, Sandal is home to the remains of Sandal Castle, begun in the early 1100s and now a scheduled ancient monument.
Several parts of the city are conservation areas, including St John's, Wentworth Terrace, South Parade and Wood Street, and Wakefield Council's consent is needed before a tree in one is pruned or felled. We do not do tree work, so on those streets we look after everything else in the garden.
